About Community Visionary Dream In the Fall of 1975, history was made in Philadelphia, PA. A group of visionary young couples resolved to create a new synagogue to serve the needs of the then burgeoning Orthodox Jewish community of Rhawnhurst in Northeast Philadelphia. The synagogue was named Congregation Ahavas Torah, reflecting the view that Torah values and Torah study must be the hallmark of a Torah-true shul. Beacon of light For more than the past 35 years, Congregation Ahavas Torah has been a beacon of light for hundreds of men and women who have sought to discover their heritage through authentic Torah classes and Shabbos hospitality. The day begins before 6 a.m. with a Daf Yomi class and ends well into the night with a variety of classes for men and women at every level. Under the guidance of their Rav, Rabbi Mordecai Terebelo, Shlita, Congregation Ahavas Torah stands on the threshold of a new chapter in its remarkable history. |
